Training & Consultation
The Center for Organizational & Workforce Development
The Connecticut Certification Board has a long history of commitment to the professional development of Connecticut's behavioral health care workforce through a variety of initiatives including the credentialing and training of practitioners, and through community and organizationally based training and consultation activities. Connecticut, like the rest of the country is facing a growing shortage of qualified clinicians with a rate of attrition that is consistently out pacing the infusion of new individuals into the profession. Workforce development concerns have become a top priority for Connecticut's Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services, as well for the United States Department of Health & Human Services, Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration.
One of the proven strategies for retaining the existing workforce, while recruiting and developing a future workforce, is for educational and credentialing bodies to coordinate their efforts in collaboration with provider organizations so that the path to credentialing and professional development is as seamless as possible. In keeping with such an approach, the Connecticut Certification Board has established The Center for Organizational & Workforce Development, which is a division dedicated to providing targeted, organizationally-based training and consultation services to the local community. In partnership with area organizations, this Center will assist individuals in identifying and meeting their own professional development and credentialing objectives while also assisting the agency in its' own system improvement priorities.
